At long last, the villain behind Spider-Man’s latest woes has emerged! After investigating The Rhino having a heart attack, Spidey found himself drugged. Peter Parker has been seeing the worst nightmares possible. How he’s still standing is anyone’s guess.

It hasn’t stopped him from searching for answers. His quest has led him to The Hobgoblin! The long-time rogue looks to finish Spidey once and for all. This time, he may actually get the job done!

Kelly wastes little time before getting the action going. Readers watch as the action comes fast and furious. Spider-Man on his heels gives Hobby a more impactful return. The flashback sequences start revealing more of a darker time. It casts a certain sense around Brian Nehring. The writing keeps the audience at bay with their true opinion of him. Once Hobgoblin takes off to confront him, the story works to have Peter confront troubling memories.

Through this period, the writing has shown a moment that proves to be greater than expected. The flashback to Peter’s rebelling comes to a heartfelt close. It proves to be a deeper meaning as this conflict spirals. Readers watch as reality snaps back to a firm landing. The fallout brings forth vibrant action as pacing revs back up. Its’ conclusion sets the stage for a big finale next issue. Fans had better get ready.

Larraz keeps raising the bar with his work on this run. The fight with Hobgoblin kicks off with an intense near full page splash. How the art sets up the fast movements are a real treat for readers. This is classic Spider-Man 101. There’s only a few breaks to catch a breath as the story switches gears.

The flashback moments start off with two monster full page images. It brings out Peter’s darkest hurt as his internal struggle unfolds. This is complimented by a two page splash unveiling Peter’s rebel years. Nothing hits quite as hard as these pages. The resolution with Aunt May is powerful. Its’ half page panel starts off the closing events. Larraz and Gracia gift readers with big ction as the conclusion sets in. The final panels are structured greatly as the last round looms in the distance.

OVERALL GRADE: 9.2

The Hobgoblin makes his evil presence felt with another superb issue. Kelly unloads on the emotional baggage with his writing. Larraz and Gracia construct stunning images covering a wide spectrum. This creative team & story simply does not miss!
