STORY OVERVIEW:

The Hornsby’s and Halo’s have been arrested and taken to Federal Plaza in NYC. Looking on are the culprits behind them being arrested, Beezle & Domino can only gloat briefly as they need to find Zach & Rose. Speaking of the latter, they are riding the subway train as they are drawn towards a beacon.

That urge draws them into a secret world behind the walls of the subway where they meet Yogi, who is a piano playing Nephilim. He explains to the kids that a few stops down is a place where they can opt out of the cycle. But as they debate finding out what that place is, Beezle & Domino try to crash the party.

WRITING:

This issue really brings together and bridges the story for where it’s going. Peter J. Tomasi & Peter Snejbjerg do an excellent job of making sure the reader knows what’s going on well advancing the story forward. The easy-to-follow nature of the story really makes it endearing to fans of all ages and across genres. Its strength and weakness are one and the same, and that it is not a traditional hero book, but more of a whimsical tale with heroics.

ARTWORK:

The art in this issue is amazing and matches the tone of the story perfectly. The art style reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons only in comic book form. This really captures the whimsical nature of the story and makes the reader feel the story from panel to panel. John Kalisz does a wonderful job with the colors and matches the tone of the art impeccably. This book and series proves why if the art and story compliment one another, the reader will be drawn in.
