The Ultimates #18 by Deniz Camp (Writer), Juan Frigeri (Artist) & VC's Travis Lanham is a great issue that sets up what should be the biggest issue in the series so far incredibly!
The Story
Deniz Camp keeps this relatively quiet in this issue, but it still packs quite a punch in how impactful it is. If you've been keeping up with the series you know that the end of each issue has had a sort of countdown going on, which of course is leading to the Maker's return. Well his return is nearly upon us, but before the inevitable battle begins one must first take the great plunge to prepare.
Tony Stark spends the entire issue appealing to the entire world, trying to convince the populace to join up with their resistance movement. Of course it's a tall task to do, standing up to the Maker & his council. Remember this is a world set up by the Maker, and as such he's set up all of the powerful figures of the world to be his own cronies. So getting all the help they can won't hurt.
It's an incredibly powerful speech from Tony, and it sees results immediately. If it wasn't clear enough already, things are going to get explosive and downright destructive. Deniz Camp is penning an absolute masterpiece and I can't wait to see where it goes.
The Artwork
Juan Frigeri is on the artwork for this issue & he does one of the most incredible jobs of a lifetime with the art. He brings such a level to the artwork it almost jumps off the pages and compliments the story beautifully. His pieces with the general populace of this world are particularly incredible and really convey just the importance of what we're seeing here. I honestly think it's some of the best artwork you're going to see on comic stands this week!
FINAL POINT: 9.0/10
Deniz Camp continues his spectacular run with this issue & delivers another incredible story. It's an incredible set up for what's sure to be one of the most anticipated issues of the year. Together with some spectacular artwork you really don't want to miss this series.
