Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 9th issue of Star Wars: Jedi Knights from Marvel Comics!
It's been a very tumultuous time for Qui-Gon Jinn in this series set before the events of The Phantom Menace. Qui-Gon has been nearly killed because of a mysterious individual named Corlis Rath, a man he swears he's never met before. But what will happen now that Qui-Gon has woken up? Let's jump into it!

Star Wars: Jedi Knights #9 by Marc Guggenheim (Writer), Madibek Musabekov (Artist), Luis Guerrero (Color Artist) & VC's Clayton Cowles (Letterer) is a great issue that starts to peel back the mystery on just what our villains motivations are.
The Story
Marc Guggenheim continues his incredible run with another fantastic story in the series. He's doing a fantastic job at keeping up the suspense, despite the fact that we know what's going to happen to most of the main characters.
We start to get a little bit of backstory as to what's going on between Qui-Gon Jinn & Corlis Rath and it's a fascinating read. We see a mystery reminiscent of Obi-Wan Kenobi's search in Attack of the Clones. There's also a great flashback sequence back to Qui-Gon's days as a Padawan under the tutelage of Count Dooku. To me this is where the story really excels.
We didn't get to see this pairing at all on the big screen, and the only real time we've seen it is limited to a little bit on the animated side of things. So to get to see these two important figures together is fantastic. You can also really get a sense for just where Dooku is at in his journey, and where he's going to end up and it's such a fascinating read.
The Artwork
Madibek Musabekov & Luis Guerrero do a tremendous job with the artwork in this issue. They did a great job with the flashback sequences and getting to see a young Qui-Gon was a real treat I didn't expect to see. I also liked the use of colors because it really brought across the gravity of what we were seeing. This series really has some of my favorite artwork in all of Star Wars comics right now.
FINAL POINT: 10/10
Marc Guggenheim pens one of the best Star Wars stories you'll read this year, and it's one you're not going to want to miss. Together with spectacular artwork this is an issue that any fan of Star Wars needs to read ASAP!
