In “Supermassive 2023”, the Massive-Verse heroes teamed up for an epic tale. The book also teased a deeper tie into the Image Comics lore. A popular Spawn Universe character crashed the party. Since that moment, fans have wondered when this character would return to comics most exciting line.

Their patience has paid off. The wait is over!

Sir John of York makes a bold splash into the story with his opening sequence. The writing narrates just enough for new readers to get an understanding of the character. The intro is short and to the point. It doesn’t take long for Caleb Hawthorne to crash this party. Their interaction goes as well as one would expect. Readers watch as the two tussle before a cooler head prevails. Once here, the issue starts taking shape.

The Withered gets a proper introduction. Parrott and Cotton blend in Rogue Sun lore into the mix. It cements their pairing into a dangerous mission. This results in big action and a devastating loss. The dialogue brings out the painful remorse as they deal with a tragedy. Its’ fallout is a bittersweet finish. Caleb’s parting moment connects on all levels. It closes one door for now while another one is kicked in. The final page leaves room for another guest to stop by to make an impression. The writing pulled out all the stops for this one.

Abel and Marques give Medieval Spawn a proper welcome to the Massive-verse. The full page monster fight sets a high bar. It showcases his skills while establishing motives. This moves events to the first run-in between lead characters. The art showcases their skills in a brush-up. It is quickly squashed as a threat is presented before them both.

Readers watch a solid full page image introduce The Withered. The panel set-up walks all through her twisted backstory. Marques’ coloring gives the evil figure new life. The usage of Black, Gray and Red make the panels pop. It sets up for the larger battle ahead. Once the main event begins, the art elevates the throwdown. Pacing flies as fast the blows thrown. A devastating loss catapults the ending of the fight. Emotions are high going into the final pages. Readers do get another gift on the final page. A full image shows someone crashing the party teasing what could be.

Medieval Spawn crashes into the Supernatural world of Rogue Sun in a thrilling manner. Parrott and Cotton take readers on one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Abel and company construct fantastic images fitting for such a monumental story. Fans will have much to be excited about when they pick this issue up.
