Whenever Bart Allen is involved, usually problems follow. In this situation, his rash decision now brings innocents into the line of fire. The writing shows his view of The Legon of Darkseid. This results in a mad dash to escape. Who he finds waiting for him proves to be more impactful than Allen could ever realize.
As for Wally West, readers watch him try to maintain some sense of direction. His interactions with Max Mercury become a lost cause. This moves into a run-in with another Dark Legion speedster. Waid and Cantwell present this conversation with a blunt perspective. It’s Darkseid’s will or nothing. Short and to the point.
West and Allen respond as one would think. Their reactions lead into a dangerous situation. Readers watch as quick thinking helps to advert disaster but cause more problems. The banter re-affirms Allen’s mistake heading into close. A final statement cements Darkseid wants Everything, no matter who or what it costs.
Georgiev & Herms balances out Bart’s imagination with a cold dose of reality. The interpretation of Darkseid’s legion is a fun break through the heavy subject. A full page image brings everything back to the present problem to launch into the story. Panels juggle the fast-paced action as Wally West gets involved.
His presence adds to an already combustible situation. Bart’s escape on a train proves more complicated than just running. The art locks in on the Legion’s attack. It results into a solid two page splash. This ushers in a frank conversation between the heroes. There is much emotion filled in these panels. Once at the close, a simple vision tips off a dark future forthcoming.

Bart Allen’s ill-timed plans run into more roadblocks with the Legion of Darkseid. Waid & Cantwell lean into Allen’s family ties with the writing. Georgiev & Herms give readers energetic art to speed through the conflict. This is definitively not a sprint on to where things go from here. Brace for the marathon.
