When the fate of the world is at stake, a hero emerges. In this case, “hero” is a term used very loosely.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this plays out!
SUPERMAN #32 by Joshua Williamson, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Alejandro Sánchez & Ariana Maher (DC COMICS)
*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Williamson takes readers for quite the ride with Luthor for this chapter. The opening shows Lex at his crowning moment. Knowing what he believes is his destiny, his dialogue comes off as smug and confident as ever. Watching Grodd tip him off to Doomsday’s plans is just enough to launch his own view of divide and conquer.
Readers watch as many familiar tropes are used to set the plan in motion. Including in some fan-favorites is no mistake. Williamson uses their rage and questionable personas to make a powder keg waiting to implode. This is especially true with the Joker. It is easy to tell the pure enjoyment Williamson is having creating these moments. It serves as a sound transition point to another lingering plot point.
Superboy-Prime and Lois Lane run through a gauntlet of extremes. Due to the events of time and space, certain plot points are allowed to resurface. This proves successful as more party crashers arrive. The writing mirrors Prime’s twisted view of the world while fighting back. It results in a questionable move. How that will play out due to K.O.’s current events is anyone’s guess. For now, its a perfect closing point until next chapter.
Barrows & Ferreira hit the Lois Lane drama with a two page splash. While early, it helps to drive home the close when time. In between, its all about Lex Luthor. The art locks in on Lex’s pure hatred pouring through when confronting Superman. The flashbacks with the Legion Of Doom make their points with a full Joker image stealing the page. Its a solid build before heading into K.O.
As events move back to Prime and Lane, the full shot of the Legion attacking sets the pace. Lois’ reaction is perfect for this encounter. Her unbreakable will steps up. A shocking two-page splash ushers in a surprise factor. Readers watch as not everything is as what it seems. This goes into the close with a surprise final page. Secrets are revealed as the “K.O".” moment takes hold. Fans will have a great deal to enjoy here.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
The return of Lex Luthor takes center stage in an exciting K.O. tie-in. Williamson’s writing brings back the legendary villain superbly. Barrows, Ferreira & the art team shine as the egotistical figure returns with a vengeance. Is Luthor humanity’s last hope? Only one way to find out.
