*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
There is something very timeless when Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen cross paths. Someone is buying property up in Star City. This kind of action brings Queen into the fray. With an assist form Jordan, they pair start digging into what’s going on. It serves as a much needed distraction for Jordan. Ever since finding his name in the Book of Oa, he hasn’t been the same. Having some time to reconnect with Queen proves immeasurable.
Their banter is priceless. Adams knows how to portray the old friends. It leads into an easy team-up into what’s unfolding. Through the set-up, there is a subtle “K.O.” tie-in. It unveils itself more grounded than one may think. The writing presents its case but not before great action commences. There is plenty of super-hero hijinks taking place. It all boils to a satisfying finish. Readers never escape their bond and banter. The issue is a much needed change of pace into the more darker road lying ahead. This will certainly be a crowd pleaser.
Di Giandomenico & Fajardo Jr. give readers plenty of big moments and fun interactions. Jordan’s initial rescue of Queen is met with a solid panel image. It conveys what to expect in this chapter. Their discussion of Hal’s issues peels back the heroic side to reveal a talk between friends. It serves to pivot the story into a more traditional team-up theme.
Arrows, robots and action, oh my! The art captures the fight for answers with huge action images. There is plenty of robot combat to lead into the truth of the matter. As the true villain is revealed, the story slows up to let reasoning sink in. It pauses action long enough to let readers buckle in on the wild close.
A full page roboting strike takes center stage. This thrusts events into the final battle. The art team orchestrates a very chaotic fight into an extremely enjoyable sequence. Readers watch as the heroes go over-the-top in combating a gigantic robot. It is everything you would want in this match-up. Sharpe’s lettering puts a bow on the gift they are giving fans. The fallout is as classic as you get with this paring. A full image sets Jordan on a more serious destination & more unwelcomed problems.
FINAL GRADE: 8.8
Green Arrow & Green Lantern do what they do best in an extremely fun adventure. Adams’ writing brings out the best in both. Di Giandomenico & Fajardo Jr. construct an impressive match-up filled with sensational visuals. It’s never a misfire for fans when these two get together.
