*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

In his mission, Immortal Legend Batman is coming to terms with his mortality. With each fight, Wayne can sense that slipping further out of grasp. The latest incarnation of a rogue taps into Wayne’s inner turmoil. It results in a question of will over hard truths. Batman has always been complex. Dealing with past trauma serves to take huge measures to win.

Readers watch as a re-imagination of a classic rogue opens up a wide playbook. The question of self-isolation proves to be the tipping hand in victory. A shocking move takes care of the latest shadow but not before exposing another truth. Higgins and Groom weave this point in before setting up the next round. The audience gets a hefty dose of details while moving events back for a homecoming of sorts. Risks taken never misfire as this legend of Batman continues to soar to new heights.

D’Urso and Monti take ILB into a very colorful new planet for this go-arund. After a full page dramatic entrance, the art swings into full gear. Monti’s coloring pops with each page in this sequence. The geo-challenges prove a true contender for Batman until the shadow reveals their identity.

The panel breakdown of Batman’s poisoning works to convey the attack’s impact. Flashbacks become trippy in presentation to mirror the mind’s painful recall. It leads into a full blown brawl with fantastic backgrounds. Even as the shadow portrays the over-confidence, it steps back to Batman’s last strike. The fallout is vivid and eye-catching. This is a staple of D’Urso’s art, bringing events to a cold finish.

Mora and Bonvillain add in their closing pages to compliment the previous team. There are plenty of heroic shots of the ILB family coming to terms of what’s to come. Reader have the stage set for a full circle moment that is long-overdue to occur. Brace for impact.

FINAL GRADE: 9
