GALACTIC #1 (DSTLRY)

Jecht Marco is anything but your ordinary bounty hunter. His reputation proceeds him. Along with his partner Wolf, Marco has made more enemies than friends. That hasn’t stopped his trade of choice. The latest assignment is to bring back a Princess to her kingdom. She currently is on a bender on a very happy planet. Sounds easy enough right?

It couldn’t be farther from the truth.

GALACTIC #1 by Curt Pires, Amilcar Pinna, Lee Loughridge & Micah Myers presents one of the wildest stories of 2025 and beyond.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s all unfolding here.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***

Pires dabbles in many themes for this opening issue. Marco is a questionable figure in his own right. His pairing with Wolf provides for great comical banters. It helps offset the wild and mature places the story goes. Princess Seriah takes her life pleasures to extremes. It breaks the mold of what one may think of the “typical” space rescue. That is exactly what Pires pushes for here.

The rescue mission takes a few turns into the wilder aspects of space. Readers watch as the trio gets wrapped up in a trafficking operation. This results in more outrageous takes before regrouping to finish. The story takes a more serious turn with a few drastic detours. Nothing is so over the top that readers get taken out. Instead, the result is a grander scale event taking place right before their eyes.

Pinna and Loughridge bring the heat early in the story. Marco’s escape from a bad business deal sets the pace. It shifts to a more calm point. Marco’s charm is written on his face. Seriah’s escapism is also brought to the forefront.

The book deals with mature themes that elevate her frustrations of royalty. This connects with the audience once Marco and Wolf meet her. The two page splash of where they refuel represents the tones of the adult sci-fi tale being spun. Panels take chances and hit their mark. After the dramatic escape, reactions slow down for a fantastic bait and switch. This moves events to close. Just as the team has you thinking one thing, the full image final page changes everything up & its’ only getting started.

FINAL GRADE: 9.5

Blending mature extremes to a sci-fi caper results in a sci-fi tale that needs to be read asap! Pires takes readers on a wildly intense ride & never holds back. Pinna and Loughridge construct emotional art to balance out the insanity pouring off the pages. You don’t want to miss where this story goes form here!
