Johnson has systematically broken Optimus Prime with his writing. For this closing chapter, Prime hits his final points. Readers watch as he unleashes the pent-up anger on his over-confident foes. The result shows a role-reversal. No longer the stoic leader. Johnson replaces him with someone looking to end events once and for all. The change in persona leads to a drastic measure taken. It becomes a polarizing moment for the legendary head of the Autobots.

Prime’s stance causes some friction with his allies from Cybertron. Elita and Prime’s dialogue brings forth many old emotions. Defending Earth doesn’t register with Prime’s old ally and choices are made. Johnson ramps up the drama in this section. Its’ build presents readers with an impactful conclusion. The ramifications of the latest stand undoubtably leaves a massive cloud hanging over head. As one door has closed, another one has completely swung open.

Corona and Spicer continue to shine with the fantastic artwork. Carly’s valiant effort to help pops off the half page panel. It’s given a perfect complimentary image of Cliffjumper smiling in approval to her actions. Pacing speeds events up to a thunderous stopping point. A half page image unveils the destruction that has just transpired. This becomes the starting point for Optimus Prime to become unleashed.

The art team leaves nothing back as Prime delivers his frustration onto the Decepticons. One in particular scene drops a huge exclamation point within the pages. Seeign Prime’s eyes switch colors for this action was a great touch. It left readers no doubt that something out of character just happened.

Another excellent moment is the conversation with Elita and Prime. The art team encases the bursting emotions to give the ultimate choice made more gravity. This leads to an excellent full page splash! With Prime’s guilty narration, the closing image will have readers talking as to the fate of the Energon Universe’s alien protectors.

FINAL GRADE: 9.6

With its’ second arc coming to a show-stopping finale, Johnson, Corona and the team present readers with an intense read. Johnson’s writing pushes Optimus Prime to new heights. Corona, Spicer and Wooten construct amazing imagery as a new stat quo appears on the horizon.

Thompson gives a big payoff moment to one of the series’ biggest plots in the latest chapter. The Jinx/Scarlett friendship has been well documented. Getting a definitive answer to where the status quo is now is a huge reward for the readers. This leads into a final play to stop the weapon from landing in Cobra’s hands. That said, the issue also spotlights another famous character along the way.

Storm Shadow is given plenty of page time for this issue. His attacks paired with the Jinx/Scarlett conversation provides a unique feel. It showcases what he is capable of while distracting the readers long enough for the reveal of Jinx’s motives. This theme circles back in the closing act. Once at this stage, a choice has been made that only spells certain fate of Scarlett’s larger mission at hand. It’s another element that the writing weaves in perfectly heading into the home stretch.

Ferrari and Loughridge waste no time in unleashing Storm Shadow’s fury. The Three panel page set-up leaves readers in awe of how violent the ninja attacks. It leads into the more personal moments between Jinx and Scarlett. The weight of the mission starts crashing down on both during these images.

It builds towards a solid closing act. The art team creates a big two page splash featuring the wild combat at hand. Readers watch as the images depict the rapidness of Jinx, Scarlett and Storm Shadow on the attack. Events conclude with a great parting image. It will be one fans will instantly sense a change in the story has just occurred. Heading into the final chapter, all bets are off on what is going to unfold now.

Heading into the final moments, Shana O’Hara makes one last play to finish her story. Thompson crafts a long awaited payoff in-between chaos with the writing. Ferrari, Loughridge and Wooten construct fantastic combat sequences along with delving into the personal drama unfolding. Readers are led into the finale with very high hopes.

Kirkman throws a unique change of course into this series direction. Splitting up Darak and Solila after surviving their latest ordeal leads to a heavy emotional issue. The writing reflects the tense parting of ways of former rivals. Through their challenges, they have formed a bond whether each wanted it or not. Seeing the kind gesture Darak shows proves the evolution of their mission.

The story of Proximus and Ultum starts off with some uncertainty. Recovering from his defeat, Proximus is very reluctant to have someone join him. The writing shows the somewhat “human” connection being made with the half cyborg soldier. It’s a fine sub-plot for the parting of the Energon Universe’s odd couple. Readers won’t be expecting what transpires on the closing pages. The mystery of this book gets another addition. Where it leads will be anyone’s guess but concludes a turning point in the series perfectly.

De Felici and Delpeche bring the painful call to separate to light on the pages. From the worry on Darak’s face to the guarded hop of Solila, the art displays the feelings they go through making this call. This carries into some of the sub-plots, esp with Proximus and Ultum.

Even with helmets on, readers can connect what is unfolding. The body language being displayed speaks volumes. This comes in to more play in the latter half of the book. Readers watch as Solila’s eyes depict the wear of the decision. It is upstaged by the genuine care Darak displays with a gift. The result is a full page image that unlocks something even greater. Long time Transformer fans will know what that is but for now, the art team sets it up with excellent use of coloring. It is a parting image setting forth a new course that fans won’t dare miss.

The call of destiny appears to be too great for the Energon Universe’s most unlikely pairing with this latest chapter. Kirkman establishes a new direction with solid writing. De Felici, Delpeche and Wooten spotlight the pressure of the choices made while teasing something BIG on the horizon. One chapter may have closed but it’s full speed ahead for an already captivating series.

Kirkman presents Springer as a much needed ally to Darak and Solila. With last issue’s big reveals concerning their connection to Energon, it was a matter of time before trouble caught up with them. The pace speeds up to give readers big action moments. Darak winds up stealing the panels with a risky move to sway the conflict their way.

In its’ fallout, Darak takes a huge gamble. It is a risk that screams for high risk/reward. The dialogue starts to break up moments between the dangerous pursuit they’re caught in. The writing intersects with some notable areas. None might be bigger than an introduction of a popular Autobot. How that figure will merge with the story is unknown but will be highly anticipated. The closing act feels slightly familiar as a new situation arises that looks to cause fractures in an already cracked bond between strangers.

De Felici and Delpeche open with excellent action moments. The art reflects the frantic battle at hand. It leads into a show-stealing half panel. In that frame is a risky but desperate move for Darak. The move pays off, resulting in a solid transition to another area.

Readers will be excited to see some classic Transformers faces appear. One will stand out more than others. The art team gives a notable welcome with a half page panel. These leads back to the unlikely trio and a mysterious cliffhanger. The art continues to impress and expand on an ever-growing universe.

Last chapter, they crossed Destro’s path in a power-play move. Heading into the fallout, all bets are off as what the metal faced maestro has in store now.

Watters gives readers a true “spy vs. spy” feel to the story. The pacing splits events between the rivals. Each highlights what they’re guessing their opposition is thinking. The game of one-upmanship showcases how vicious the quest for power can be.

This all builds towards a somewhat startling conclusions. let it be said, there is always some honor amongst thieves. Destro comes off as cunning as ever with the writing. Even as skilled challengers as the twins are, it never feels like Destro is out of his element. The final act throws a detour in where events play next. It is one that leaves readers guessing to whom still has the upper hand.

Bressan and Lucas breakdown the back and forth banter with a few notable panels. The “face-Off” homage conveys the rift between sides. This leads into some fun action panels. A full page image of the B.A.T.S vs Crimson Guard will have readers excited for what’s unfolding.

The showdown is filled with a tense overtone. Destro lets his guard drop a bit to indicate to readers the rage and anger he is under while handling this current challenge. With a final page setting a new stage, the chapter takes a bow with many guess on where things lead from here.

With each side trying to make an impact, Hama divdes up the pace to let each party have a few moments to shine. The opening delves into the Joes infiltrating Serpentor’s twisted world. It gives readers a solid build before the combat begins. At this stage, Serpentor unleashes his first salvo to much fanfare.

On the flip side, the Joes begin their two-sided attack. The writing takes hold of the losses Dawn has been dealt as she’s not front and center of plans. This gives more pay-off to the evil ways of Commander’s plans. With the latter portion of the book, things begin to speed up. This creates an exciting feel heading into the close. Once at the final page, there is no doubt in reader’s minds as War has been officially declared in the G.I. Joe universe.

Pelletier and company construct the beginnings of an all-out assault. The team on Cobra Island never ease up from the brutal situation they’re in. Panels leave nothing to chance as the Joes make their presence felt.

The art also hones in on the direct attack on Springfield. Seeing the Serpentor squad jump into bad leaps at reader. Seeing the shock and doubt in their eyes becomes telling in the closing pages. This plays a part in the ending image. Knowing who has now entered the battle, readers can expect more chaos and damage as the next issue is unlikely to let up what was started here.

Serpentor’s plans begin with a G.I. Joe team looking to intercept. Hama paints a brutal and direct look at the mayhem about to start. Pelletier and the team craft solid combat panels in with the onlook of combat waiting in the wings. This has all the makings for another classic G.I. Joe event.

Johnson brings Beachcomber into the forefront for this issue with great success. His path into the fight is filled with solitude and guarded hope. Pairing Beachcomber with Spike Witwicky allows the lost Autobot toopen up to not only a human, but the audience. The story here reflects how not everyone is in to a fight forever. That said, there might not be an option for the newest Transformers as more threats loom.

The pacing gives Soundwave enough time to demonstrate his vileness onto his prisoners. The dialogue between him and Shockwave carries a cold flare as both see means to an end for the Autobots. This plays perfectly opposite with Optimus’ blind faith. Even with the odds as great against him, Prime won’t back down. Judging by what Johnson sets up, there might not be any time to counter the growing threat. The final page leaves a mark as to the dwindling future of survival for Earth and its’ inhabitants. It’s another great example of high level storytelling.

Corona and Spicer feature many sides to Beachcomber on his journey into this series. Doubt, Sadness and Hope flood the opening act. The trip from the Moon to the Earth are prime examples of this. They are panels that readers will lock in on as the story grows.

The Decepticons unveil their plans with some striking images. Readers watch as their “feeder” is given a big welcome and terrifying demonstration. This is depicted later in a moment with Soundwave and Thundercracker. The panels may be small, but the messages conveyed yell out what evil is steering events.

Before concluding, the art team deliver on a huge two-page splash. What unfolds can only be described as epic. It is a game changing moment that is paired effortlessly with the closing image. This chapter’s conclusion is given an exclamation point by the art team. Each time out, they find new ways to take the drama to new heights. This is why the series gets as many accolades as it does.

Through a new Transformer’s perspective, the war from Cybertron gets new light in another strong chapter. Johnson continues to push the Autobots past their breaking points with phenomenal writing. Some of the other side plots get a moment to shine. Dawn’s mourning of her parents and Destro’s manipulations are key areas fans will latch onto. The closing act steers back full circle. Serpentor is the driving force in this plot and looks to have more plans up his sleeve. This is another steady read which keeps things rolling towards another epic moment.

Pelletier directs the action front and center with this chapter. The panels feel fast and dives into the tense situation of outrunning Serpentor. The emotional fallout of Dawn with the Joes is another key element of this book. It shows the tolls for the actions taken. It leaves readers with a greater sense of the mission at hand. Once in the final pages, the art elevates the conflict. The closing page is a great cliffhanger to depart on while building towards what’s next.

Tensions are rising as Serpentor makes moves that have the world on notice. Hama weaves in classic action with some intrigue in the writing. Watters wastes little time in establishing Destro as a force. The takeover of Darklonia is precise in its brutality and message. Destro comes across as a shrewd businessman with grand expectations. His conversations with Cobra Commander play heavy into the “frienemy” territory that has defined their relationship for decades.

The writing also allows for more rivals to make a big introduction. Fans will be very pleased to see a certain pair hit the pages. Their story instantly establishes them to new readers. It also meshes well with long-time fans knowing what they’re capable of.

The conclusion picks up the pace. This allows a further insight into the battle for power. Throughout this issue, Destro is driven by this notion. Heading into the final page, it is clear this is what makes him stand apart from most rogues.

Bressan and Lucas focused greatly on the man underneath the mask. He is often caught devilishly smiling when his plans are working. This comes off of the strong introduction of his forces. The images are unforgiving as the motives are driven by greed.

The other major debut mirrors much of what made Destros’ work. The images are ruthless and cold when they advance their plans. This leads to a solid closing filled with dramatic sequences. The art team leaves readers off with a bold parting visual from a declaration of intent.

In the writing, Prime never waivers from his mission to save the Earth from their invaders. Even in a losing effort, his drive is unquestionable.

The fight set-up is everything you want from Transformers. Plus, with Johnson being a huge wrestling fan, the usage of a certain driver doesn't miss hitting its mark in the story. Outside factors are added into the already combustible mix.

This causes a highly emotional moment that should have grave ramifications. The closing pages look to build off of the new wave of faces readers see added into the mix. How this will all play out is anyone's guess. You won't want to miss the ride!

Shockwave makes a proper grand entrance with a near full page panel. Readers can instantly see how the story turns in favor of the mood and pacing. Scarlett enters the party. Inside the mansion, there are a wide variety of characters mingling. The mission is focused on finding nefarious people. Hostages involved are not the priority according to her supervisors. However, Scarlett isn’t one to let rules stop her from doing good.

As she assesses the scene, a familiar face emerges in the party. JINX has arrived with an entourage with weapons. Control base tells Scarlett to stand down. The orders are ignored as she trails in pursuit. Once she walks into another room, there is more going on that meets the eyes.

Readers watch as Scarlett finds the hostages caught in the middle of a fight with others and Jinx’s team. Did anyone seriously think she was going to sit by idly? The fallout results in Scarlett forging a new path as the mystery behind her friend escalates.

The company is still recovering from the ordeal involving DUKE. It cannot take another public hit. Seeing that the attacks led to theft, Destro wants swift action. A “clue” has been left behind: Ripper. The dreadnok comes bearing an invite from the Commander to meet up and talk.

Readers watch as Destro, Mercer and a team travel to an undisclosed location. Upon arrival, Destro assesses the seemingly quiet residential neighborhood. Ripper gives fair warning that this whole situation is far from normal. Once a demonstration is given, the Commander makes a grand entrance.

The master manipulator starts his work on Destro. Secrets are revealed on how Commander’s dark vision is coming to life. What is Destro’s reaction to all of this? The conclusion leads into the next phase of a global terrorist organization the likes the world has never seen. It is truly the birth of evil.

However, there is still one party having a vested interest in the Commander’s plans. The parting moment leads readers into a different direction of the Energon Universe which is sure to thrill and delight.

The Birth of Terror. Williamson crafts a defining moment in G.I. Joe lore. Destro’s initial reaction to events plays into his cold presence. Being a man of business, the dialogue reflects his cutthroat tactics. In dealing with a master con man, this shines through in their first meeting.

Commander’s dark charisma shines in these moments. In each issue, the “horror” aspect stands out with no exception here. The audience will enjoy trying to figure out who has the upper hand in the situation. This builds towards a solid finish with Commander’s biggest strength (and weakness) shining in the end. The parting act re-enforces ties with the Energon Universe as a new phase begins.

Milana and Leoni build Destro’s lead-in with a direct two page spread. The tone is controlled anger as Destro gets more information on the attacks. This leads to the dramatic entrance of Commander to their meeting. It conveys the fragile relationship between the pair as they start talking their deal. A moment that will stand out is one involving Dr. Lazlo. It breaks the seriousness for a second, with his facial reactions saying a lot.

The final pages of the Commander’s tale focuses on his new persona. Reactions are mixed until the moment he makes an address. The two page spread cements the new era of terror. With the feeling of dire excitement, the pages will have readers knowing that change has arrived whether the world is ready for it or not.

However, he was not the one behind this attack. That “honor” belongs to Serpentor Khan. The mutated madman has plans to take out Cobra Commander and Destro! Readying a mounting attack, Serpentor has sent a decoy Zartan to meet with Destro.

In their meeting, Destro catches wind of the decoy. The Baroness wants to destroy the robot. Destro stops her. His reasoning? Destro is planning on using the robot to feed Serpentor false information.

Readers watch as events are set into motion for a grave Cobra showdown. The Joes are working events on their side. The good guys don’t go without a tragedy in their fight. There is a crushing moment that unfolds which won’t go unavenged. Judging by the final page, a X factor in this complicated puzzle might have made a choice. It very well may be the deciding addition to put one side over the top in the upcoming combat. Brace for a very fast paced issue.

Hama doesn’t delay in heading right to business in this chapter. The Zartan opening moves briskly into the Serpentor scheming. Seeming as the overall “big bad’, the unhinged plans of the mutated leader work to create a chaotic atmosphere. This also rolls into Springfield. Its’ the location for a heartbreaking moment. Hama sets up up flawlessly from last issue. It will hit readers in the emotions. From here, its’ back to business as events are in full swing for the road to showdown.

Pelletier and Kordos open up with a near full page image of Zartan escaping the oncoming missile. They also focus on the reactions to events playing out. Seeing the unhinged look of Serpentor and fear in Dr. Mindbender speaks volumes.

The action is also featured strongly in this chapter. The Snake-Eyes montage is filled with imagery of him doing what he does best. However, this is eclipsed by the tragic moments in Springfield. While only being a few panels, the art team drives him a dark moment of the series. If readers had any question of how dangerous this climate is, they need to look no further that these panels.

Sides are forming and the elite special forces unit is caught in the middle! Hama speeds through each key players set-up with the writing. Pelletier and Kordos hit readers with a multi-layered attack with the art building up for the forthcoming stand-off. There is much for fans to be excited for in this series.

Johnson ushers in the Soundwave era with a bold start. Seeing the cold and unapologetic manner in which he deals with the USS Henry Henderson crew makes a big impression. The dialogue between Thundercracker and him during this moment connects his method of business.

It is a very big contrast with Optimus Prime. Johnson features the effects of Prime’s battles taking a grave toll on him. The ramifications of the first arc still linger on the Autobot leader’s soul. Johnson droves this point home with the growing emotions of Carly and her reaction to the Autobots. The writing mirrors her anger and confusion of events. This only adds to a more complicated scenario as the conclusion brings in another big player for Prime to deal with.

Corona and Spicer give ample page time to Carly’s growing frustrations. The images convey her rage towards the Autobots’ choice concerning Starscream. This plot point continues to be one readers have a strong connection with.

Soundwave’s actions towards the military crew also stand out. The panels leave no doubt about how driven the new Decepticon leader is on his plans. This leads into a near full page reveal about the next phase in plans that spell disaster for the Autobots. None might be bigger than the closing image. The charismatic arms dealer pleads his methods in an attempt to sway Duke. Knowing what Duke has gone through, does this give the hunted fugitive a way out?

Readers watch as Duke answers with a triumphant answer. The result pits man vs. machine. With answers looming on the other side, Duke must find a way to overcome the odds one more time. Can he do it?

With the signature action the series has been known for, the stakes have never been higher. The conclusion brings forth a new direction for the Energon Universe. If fans think they’ve seen it all, they haven’t seen anything yet.

Williamson caps off events with a strong finale. Destro gets a huge introduction into the spotlight. The banter with Duke and him proves to raise tensions even higher. The fallout throws the gas pedal down. This leads right into a knockdown, drag out brawl fitting for the fandom.

The Nemesis Enforcer of Cobra-La is laying waste to the Dreadnoks. Zandar and Zarana are hiding and planning a counter attack. They push Buzzer out in the open to be a distraction. The enforcer swoops in and breaks Buzzer’s arm. Zarana doesn’t take a killshot attempt. This forces the remaining Dreadnoks to flee for safety. The enforcer lets them flee as the mission is below the surface.

Once the Commander emerges, he divulges his findings and plans what’s next. However, there appears to be a change in plans.

Readers watch as true plans are revealed. It escalates business as the Commander shows why he is a ruthless figure to oppose. The ending act brings events to a crashing halt. It leads the audience to see another player is entering the fold. How will the ultimate power play end?

With Ultimate power at stake, is there anything off limits? Williamson lights the match for a very combustible situation. Seeing the work over the scientist is vintage Cobra Commander. The lying and deceit is justified in his mind. This folds into the conflict of this chapter. The Commander knows what’s at stake and plans for the unexpected.

The action levels up as readers see why the scientist is so dangerous. The writing portrays Commander as an underestimated foe time in and time out. The closing moments throw everything in flux as someone is looming in the distance that will change things forever in the rise of evil.

Milana and Leoni deliver on big action involving the Enforcer. The half page panel of Buzzer’s arm being broken is an intense moment. Wooten’s lettering amplifies the violent outcome. This counters the reveals of what the Commander has been searching for.

The mannerisms displayed indicate the wonderment of knowing what power lies await. This is quickly derailed with a strong panel showcasing a standoff. With a new fight brewing, the action panels grab readers attention. This ends with an incredible full page image dealing the final blow. The issue begins with a flashback to Cybertron. An Autobot unit leads an assault onto a holding area. The Decepticons are onto their attack. It turns into a losing effort as the onslaught pours down on the team. Elita sneaks into the building. What she finds is a literal shell of someone she used to know.

The events shift to Earth. A battleship (USS Henry Harrison) is summoned to investigate “Robots” on the coast of Washington. Readers quickly find out that who they’re looking for might not be so welcoming.

The remaining Decepticons from the battle with Optimus Prime’s forces have a meeting about their future. Soundwave calls for Starscream to step down as leader. This doesn’t go well with the ineffective leader of the group. Under Decepticon law, this action is needed to be handled via trail by combat.

Readers sit back and watch as Soundwave and Starscream battle for the crown. It is a vicious battle with a startling outcome. Once the smoke clears, Autobots need to brace for what is coming. Can they overcome another fight while still recovering? They may not have another option. The closing moments dictate there is no rest for the wicked. A decree is thrown down that will ignite a fanbase to another incredible story.

Johnson doesn’t brake from the fast pacing of the series with its’ latest chapter. The trial for Decepticon control features Soundwave in an unlikely role. Always being Megatron’s loyal right hand, Johnson brings Soundwave’s unwavering allegiance to their mission to the forefront. Readers see a glimpse of the levels he goes to achieve success. The fallout sets course for a new sense of urgency. This plays well to the leader’s counterpart - Optimus Prime.

Prime gives readers a sense of the toll the previous arc has taken on the Autobot leader. The writing reflects Prime’s shaken attitude but unbreakable will. What effects this will have long term is unknown. In the short time, readers are gifted a very well-balanced introduction chapter.

Corona steps into the art role ad doubles down on the big action. The fighting between StarScream and Soundwave is brutal and unforgiving. Each panel screams of the intense action portrayed. Even when Soundwave fights unfair, the art shows there is no limits he won’t go to win. This leads into a half page panel that announces to the readers who is the one left standing in Decepticon rule.

The autobots get their fair share of page time as well. In the Cybertron period, readers see a near full page visual of who lies in captivity. This is fast forwarded to Prime reliving the previous issue events. The closing images show Prime returning to focus with a near full page panel. All in all, the winning formula of drama and action continues to stay balanced for the readers.

“If you aim for the crown, you had best not miss” is a perfect way to sum up Decepticon mentality in this latest issue. Johnson’s writing leans heavy into the big battles readers know and love. Corona steps in for art duties and gifts fans with the winning formula this series has been known for. Its’ conclusion lays down a proclamation that might not be able to be kept, but only time will tell that story.

Zertonia has not been too kind to Darak and Solila. The unlikely pair are on the run. Premier Zalilak is willing to cross a line to stop them from uniting the colonies. Zalilak has unleashed Proximus to eliminate the pair.

This chapter begins with a flashback to a young Solila. She’s preparing her brother Polada for combat. With youthful emotions, Polada struggles with what’s coming. An impromptu fight breaks out between the both. Suddenly time jumps to the present.

Solila stands out in a gaze. Darak asks what’s going on. Solila brushes it off, claiming there’s no way Zalilak would dare send the person she was thinking of.

As the pair moves forward, Proximus speeds in pursuit. The duo stops to rest thinking that a possible destination could be in reach. This is until Proximus makes a bold entrance to detour their path.

With a fight to the death looming, has luck finally run out? Readers watch as the action picks up. Its resolution leaves a notable impact. None will be greater as the final page. The parting image indicates plans may have gravely changed from the original course.

Proximus makes a grand entrance for this chapter via Kirkman’s plot. The mysterious hunter comes across as a driven, merciless soul. This is in stark contrast to the more light-hearted Darak. Solila remains the standout character in this series with her insight and reactions to their threat.

The flashback sequences elude to more as the issue goes forward. It only amplifies the outcome of the encounter between the three. Kirkman lays into the battle in the latter portion of the chapter. This is an easy win with readers as the moment carries a certain feel to the fight. The fallout changes up the original path which is another bonus of an already engaging saga.

De Felici and company make a splash with introducing Proximus with a near full one-page panel. This is followed up by an excellent two-page spread of Proximus making the first strike. Wooden’s lettering amplifies the attack tenfold.

Once the dust settles there, De Felici and Delpeche give readers some great fighting panels. Even to the moments of a helmet slowly breaking, the art team leaves nothing to chance with this encounter. The final page is a full page vision that will be haunting some readers until the next chapter drops. It’s a perfect mic drop moment with big indications.

Making an instant impact, Proximus enters the Void Rivals saga with an action packed debut. Kirkman sets the stage with thrilling writing. The art carries the heavyweight fight feel with every action image. With a show-stopping final page, this will be a book fans will be buzzing about.

The chapter begins with the attack on the Pit in full swing. More soldiers from Major Bludd’s group decent onto the building. Stalker is holding them back in a losing effort. His situation is ironically more controlled than what lies beneath the Pit…

The Baroness has Duke at gun point. After shooting Major Bludd last issue, she is poised to collect the bounty on Duke’s head. Duke bluntly tells her to get it over with after telling her what the fallout will be with her actions. With the amount of people looking for Duke and his information, there is no such thing as a certain pay day. The Baroness backs off. Stalker gets the drop on her. Duke says to hold his attack.

With Clutch and Rock n Roll in tow, Duke leads them on an escape from the soldiers moving in. There is no turning back. There’s only one way out for the group. They need to dive further underground.

Readers witness as the unlikely allies prepare to ascend and take the fight to Bludd’s forces. The conflict hits the gas pedal and never lets up. How will the alliances hold up? With time running out, choices are made. One steers Duke onto a new path. Greeting him might be the answers he is searching for. However, there’s an obstacle in his path on the final page that might derail plans once and for all!

One thing is for certain: If you want action, you have come to the right place! Williamson orchestrates huge moments while delving into Duke’s complex situation. The conversation with the Baroness is filled with an uneasy tone of reluctant trust. Fans will gravitate towards how Duke takes over running the escape mission. For any new readers to the fandom, it’s prime example of how he has become the legendary leader of G.I. Joe.

Williamson also sets events in motion for the finale through this chaotic scene. Duke is written as unbreakable much like his spirit. This drives the final act forward. Once events lead to the closing pages, the writing places the key players in their spots for what will be no doubt a classic finale.

Reilly and Bellaire spare no expense in giving fans bold action images. The face-off with Baroness and Duke is boiling over with tension and anxiousness. Duke’s demeanor shines through leading to its’ eventual outcome. The escape from the Pit kicks off with a HUGE two page spread that locks readers in for the action.

Wooton’s lettering here is the perfect touch to the frantic motion going on. These images guide readers into a solid final act. The closing full page panel will have readers pacing for the final to drop. It’s another sign of fantastic work from this creative team.

With danger at every turn, the franchise of the G.I. Joe fandom shows why he is that of legend with another excellent read. Williamson constructs a hero’s unbreakable will through his writing. Reilly, Bellaire and Wooten give fans much to be excited about with their energetic action imagery. All signs point to an epic finale based off this strong lead-in chapter.

For this entry, the hunt for Energon is on via Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics. The early days of G.I. Joe’s most deadliest foe have not been easy. The never-ending quest for power has led right to the door steps of the Dreadnoks. If last issue’s ending is any indication, the road to victory is sinking fast.

The issue begins with the Commander’s mysterious “bodyguard” walking through the Florida everglades. The Commander is missing. Readers witness that he’s been taken underwater by the swamps’ inhabitants. When a harpoon enters the water, it picks up the Commander out of the jaws of danger…for now.

Meanwhile, Zatana is addressing the rest of the Dreadnoks at their bar hangout. She unveils a valuable object. Readers see first hand an Energon Cube! The mood shifts to optimism. The conversation delivers a note of someone who was snooping around the swamp as well. Zandar walks in with a captured Cobra Commander!

What do the Dreadnoks do with their prisoner? Readers see first hand how unwelcomed guests are treated. However, the breaking of the Commander isn’t so easy. Someone has to walk away with the upper hand. The closing pages reveal a clear cut winner. It also greets readers with a surprise entrant into the fray. With a final page that is guaranteed to leave an impression, the quest for Energon looks to be talking a deadly detour into uncharted waters.

Williamson dives head first into the dark levels surrounding the search for power. Seeing the amount of violence involved, the chapter walks a fine line of horror. The Dreadnoks are featured as pawns thinking they’re royalty. This plays into the scheming and cunning of the Commander. Once the true game begins, it is an easy connect with readers of who is in charge. The ironic poetry of the closing page is perfect to lead the audience into the story’s next phase.

Milana and Leoni don’t pull their punches with the acts of torture in this issue. It gets taken to another level with the creative use of looking thru The Commander’s eyes for a few panels. This translates greater when the Commander makes his move. Readers will also be blown away by a gorgeous two full page spread giving a certain character a dramatic debut.

Events are concluded on a superb note. Wooden’s lettering is the star of the final page. The words continue to build and elevate an already dangerous situation. It complements a complex game with a clear cut winner emerging.

All is fair game in the quest for power. Through Williamson’s excellent storytelling, the face of COBRA stands off against the Dreadnoks in a brutally strong manner. Milana, Leoni and Wooden craft the extreme actions taken leading to a show-stopping finish. The horror-driven tale delivers another winning chapter.
